Our tips

The mountains begin at your doorstep.

Long-distance trek through ancient legends

Alta Via No. 1 is one of the Dolomites’ most legendary long-distance trails. Starting at the turquoise waters of Lake Braies, it crosses the wild Fanes-Senes-Braies plateau rising above Camping Sass Dlacia, then continues for 80 km across ridges and valleys. Reaching an altitude of 2,752 meters, it passes the most iconic mountains of the Dolomites: Lagazuoi, Tofana, Cinque Torri, Averau, Nuvolau, Pelmo, Civetta, and Moiazza, with welcoming mountain huts along the way.

Journey through 200 million years of history

Beyond the classic High Routes, the Dolomites World Heritage Geotrail reveals the mountains’ geological story. Spanning four itineraries and 47 stages, it guides hikers through “geostops” that interpret the landscape. The route crosses Puez-Odle and Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Parks, passing through Camping Sass Dlacia - an ideal stop before continuing toward Capanna Alpina and Fanes - tracing the evolution from ancient seas to today’s dramatic rock forms.
