Summer in the Dolomites
Long, golden days stretch beneath clear blue skies, where the mountains are free of snow and the meadows glow in fresh, vibrant green. Trails wind through the Dolomites, offering endless possibilities for hikers, walkers, and adventurers seeking both serenity and challenge. Summer here is every mountain lover’s paradise, with open alpine huts welcoming visitors to rest, savor local flavors, and soak in the stunning vistas.
The Pralongià plateau and the Armentarola meadows, bordering Camping Sass Dlacia, are dotted with mountain huts and restaurants, perfect for families, casual walkers, or those seeking scenic mountain bike and e-bike routes. Gentle trails lead to breathtaking views, while more daring paths reward climbers and via ferrata enthusiasts with panoramic heights and a true sense of adventure.
Summer also brings the richness of Ladin culture to life. Savor the distinctive cuisine of South Tyrol, attend vibrant cultural events, or take a leisurely evening stroll through the pedestrian streets of San Cassiano, where tradition, gastronomy, and the warmth of local hospitality converge.

Spring in the Dolomites
Spring is a season between seasons, a period of transition, of blooming and warmth, a time for peace and quiet, for the last skiing sessions and the first hiking tours of the year.
Spring starts when the skiing seasons approaches its end, yet it still offers some of the best skiing and snowshoeing days. The sun sets later in the evening and the mountain huts are open until late, a perfect way to relax and have some fun after a breathtaking ski mountaineering session in late March or early April.
The melting of the last snow marks the beginning of a new time of the year at Camping Sass Dlacia and in the adjacent Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park: blooming flowers and plants, woods teeming with animal life and lakes and rivers overflowing with meltwater, some of them only observable in May and June. Thanks to the longer and warmer days, it is the ideal time of the year for the first walks, hiking excursions and mountain bike, e-bike or racing bike tours.

Autumn in the Dolomites
Autumn is a feast for the eyes, thanks to nature’s last burst of fiery colours and clear sunny days. The sun starts to set earlier in the evening, while the green woods turn to bright yellow, orange and red colours. An invitation to enjoy gentle walks in the larch woods and calm brooks. Nature’s last spectacular display before retiring under its winter coat invites us to explore its hidden details and sit in contemplation of the Dolomites’ beauty.
September and October are the sunniest and driest months of the year, a perfect time for the last walks, hiking excursions, mountain bike, e-bike or racing bike tours. We recommend to plan your tours though: some mountain huts close before October and shorter days mean that late starts are not advised in case of long itineraries. The later half of autumn is a prelude to winter. Colder, shorter days and the first snowfalls call for cosiness and warmth, like enjoying a mulled wine at one of the many Christmas markets of South Tyrol, while early December marks the beginning of the skiing season.

Winter in the Dolomites
While nature slumbers under the soft blanket of pure white snow covering the Dolomites in enchanted silence, the towns and mountain huts of Alta Badia spring to life. Skiing is by far the main attraction in the winter, with 130 km of perfectly groomed ski runs just in our area to prove it, with further hundreds awaiting in the other Dolomiti Superski areas, most of which are directly connected. Countless mountain huts and restaurants make San Cassiano a paradise for fine dining lovers and for those wishing to taste the simple Ladin cuisine.
And if skiing is not your thing, or not the only one, there are several alternative winter activities. The cross country skiing slopes run right through the Camping Sass Dlacia, while ski mountaineering, snowshoe excursions and simple walking trails allow you to discover a more pristine and serene side of nature. And if you are finally exhausted after a full day outdoors, you can crown it with a soothing sauna in our own Natura Wellness spa.
