Altonn - Autumn in the Dolomites
A blaze of colour to fall for
Autumn is a feast for the eyes, thanks to nature’s last burst of fiery colours and clear sunny days. The sun starts to set earlier in the evening, while the green woods turn to bright yellow, orange and red colours. An invitation to enjoy gentle walks in the larch woods and calm brooks around Camping Sass Dlacia. Nature’s last spectacular display before retiring under its winter coat invites us to explore its hidden details and sit in contemplation of the Dolomites’ beauty.
September and October are the sunniest and driest months of the year, a perfect time for the last walks, hiking excursions, mountain bike, e-bike or racing bike tours. We recommend to plan your tours though: some mountain huts close before October and shorter days mean that late starts are not advised in case of long itineraries. The later half of autumn is a prelude to winter. Colder, shorter days and the first snowfalls call for cosiness and warmth, like enjoying a mulled wine at one of the many Christmas markets of South Tyrol, while early December marks the beginning of the skiing season.
