Things to do and eat around Camping Sass Dlacia

Bars, restaurants and activities in the Armentarola-Saré area

The Camping Sass Dlacia campground enjoys a priviliged solitary location in the Saré-Armentarola area, in the middle of the woods, 3 km (1.9 mi) away from the centre of the village of San Cassiano. Nevertheless, the area hosts a few hidden gems that you should visit if you want to try local delicacies, enjoy a biodynamic wine tasting, buy home-grown local produce, or experience some of the best sports activities in the region. We highly recommend you to explore these neighbouring family-run businesses and establishments.

The following suggestions are all in within walking distance of  Camping Sass Dlacia.

Restaurant Bar Saré

Bar Restaurant Saré is located right next to Camping Sass Dlacia campground. It serves tasty homemade dishes, inspired by the traditional Ladin cuisine of South Tyrol. On the sunny panoramic terrace, you can enjoy the best ice cream in town. In addition, the mini-zoo is perfectly suited to entertain children and adults alike.

The Sass Dlacia chapel and the meditation trail

The meditation trail starts in the Saré area, near the bar of the same name. It winds through the woods and can be easily covered by anyone in about 30 minutes. At the end, you reach the little Sass Dlacia church, dedicated to Virgin Mary. It is made of eight stations, each inviting for reflection. You can get a booklet with explanations at the beginning of the itinerary or at the nearby Saré bar.

Scotoni Mountain Hut

Just the location itself of the Scotoni Mountain Hut in Alta Badia is worth a visit. Situated in the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, this charming mountain hut lies in a spectacular valley surrounded by the Dolomites of Lagazuoi, Fanes and Scotoni. It is open in summer and in winter, when you can ski down from Lagazuoi mountain and stop for a delicious BBQ meal or enjoy a drink while soaking in the beautiful landscape.

Malga Valparola Alm

This little typical South Tyrolean farm lies in a wonderful valley surrounded by lush woods, with cows, horses and goats grazing on its pastures. You can taste Ladin cuisine specialities prepared with their freshest “home-grown” ingredients (bread, cheese, speck, ricotta). You can also buy fresh farm products. Arriving is nice and easy even with a stroller or mountain-bike. If you wish you can continue to the Valparola Pass along the trail enjoying stunning views of the surrounding Dolomites.

Capanna Alpina

The restaurant lies right next to the parking at the entrance of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park. Here, you can enjoy typical mountain dishes. Not only from the local Ladin and South Tyrolean cuisine, but also from Aosta Valley, like the famous "grolla" (grole), a highlight of this establishment. The owner, Guido, is well renowned among tourists, locals and all those who want to hear a few interesting stories about the area's past, flora or fauna.

La cantina Ciasa Salares - Wine cellar

The best place in Alta Badia to enjoy a glass of excellent wine in a unique and comfortable ambiance on tables made of local wood, while surrounded by 16,000 bottles of wine from all over the world: it is the cosy and recently refurbished wine cellar of Hotel Ciasa Salares, renowned for its Michelin- starred restaurant "La Siriola".
